Research: Medieval Costumes

Medieval costumes are the bane of my existence right now. I've got a production in August that requires a few costumes to be made and right now I'm just doing research. All the costumes have the same structure, so when it actually gets to sewing them, it won't be that big of a hassle, but being creative around what is defined is getting to me. Yes, I want to use fabrics that create that time period and I'm having a hard time finding them within my budget. Also, some of the characters for the August event haven't been cast yet, so I don't know their sizes and if I want to start work on mock-ups, it would be handy to know who is doing what so I don't make something too small and have to re-make it. I don't have that type of budget.

But at least I'm not going to use white. I'll use a cream or a tan, but I'm not using white (at least not in the peasant-style gowns). The bodices and the corsets are going to drive me insane in a few days when I actually start working on them, but I've found some really fun and thick material that will make this an easier project than having to stiffen the fabric artificially.
